Facing new challenges and improving the approved
The current challenge for a software vendor in the HVAC industry is, on the one hand, to adapt to the rapid development within the BIM world and to provide appropriate tools, while on the other hand, the customer is legitimately expecting the further development of its daily approved tools. Even if BIM is on everyone's lips - many HVAC engineering offices continue to work with the familiar and proven tools in the AutoCAD environment. liNear is well positioned for this market situation and is now providing almost the entire portfolio of its products on the basis of the proven AutoCAD or, alternatively, on its own CADinside, as well as on the Revit platform. All platforms are suitable for daily use with conventional methods, but on the other hand the user is able to deliver BIM-compliant results at any time. In the case of Revit as an RVT file, possibly also via a central model, in the case of AutoCAD or CADinside via the data import or export of IFC files.
IFC interface - import and export
Since Version 16, the liNear CAD Solutions already offer an export function in the IFC format. This allows the liNear user to make his planning results available for the BIM process and share the work with other project participants. The IFC interface has now been extended by the liNear's own IFC import for architectural models. All building-relevant data are combined in a 3D model, which is automatically present in the correct liNear conventions. This means that a revision of the model (assignment of storey data, zonations, etc.) is almost completely eliminated. In the best case, the user can directly do the building detection for the purpose of a heating load and / or cooling load calculation based on an imported IFC file.
Management of BIM / FM / building data
A new tool for managing the component properties gives the user the possibility to easily attach any information - whether calculation results, dimensions or self-defined data - to all conceivable components within the model. This also controls, for example, which component information is taken into account for the IFC export and which, if necessary, can not be changed at any time, as the client requires these data or the status of the project makes it necessary. The new tool is also suitable for managing the necessary component properties for export to FM systems.
Potable water valves according to VDI 3805-17
The direct implementation of the potable water valves according to VDI 3805 Part 17 replaces the previous valve set format (* lvd2). For projects designed with liNear V16 or earlier, V17 automatically converts the circulation control valves into the new format. The potable water valves can be selected exactly as the heating valves via the valves dialog. Revised and tested data sets are available for the following manufacturers:

Implemented cooling convector dimensioning
Version 17 provides the new dimensioning of cooling convectors. Similar to the radiator dimensioning, you can now design cooling convectors. Taking into account the maximum permissible sound level, the blower levels are selected automatically. Arbonia is the first manufacturer with its underfloor convectors available. Manufacturer-neutral convectors are also selectable.
Design of single-pipe heaters
In the module Building Heating it is now also possible to design one-pipe heating systems and to automatically draw them into the model. The operation is similar to the classic radiator dimensioning. By default, the portion of the heating water flow rate through the radiator amounts to 35%. This global target value for mass flow distribution can be adjusted in the radiator selection. Furthermore, it can even be independently changed at each one-pipe run. This is a benchmark for the dimensioning, since radiators are not available for any random capacity grading. Single-pipe fittings are part of the VDI 3805-2 data set. Single-pipe systems can be designed in both horizontal and vertical distribution and calculated in liNear Analyse Heating. The calculation can be performed both in the schema and in 3D.
News from the panel heating
In addition to the introduction of the new standard DIN EN ISO 11855, which now also represents laminar flows - a case frequently occurring in new buildings - many extensions and improvements have been incorporated into the design software. Especially the interaction of radiator dimensioning and related CAD drawing has been optimized. Changes can now be made on both sides and can be synchronized by a single click. Including material list, visualization and labeling. A new adjustment function for the automated balancing of pipe surfaces, taking account of the pipe lengths, makes one of the most tedious tasks of a professional design much easier. Last but not least, the algorithms of pipe laying for all forms have been completely revised. Even more complex spatial geometries are now filled reliably.
Flexible pipe systems for liNear Design 3D Pipe&Power
The Design 3D Pipe&Power module has been extended by flexible pipe systems. Many users draw and calculate their projects in the meantime in the 3D model. For this reason, the demand for correspondingly powerful and at the same time simple construction aids for flexible pipe material increases. Viega was the first manufacturer to record its flexible pipes as a data set. Thus, the three-dimensional design of flexible connection situations and the general laying of flexible pipe material are now also possible. In addition to the Viega data set, the user is also provided with a neutral data set for flexible pipes.
Comfortable connecting function for liNear Design 3D Pipe&Power
The connection functionality for 1-line pipe nets, which is known from the liNear desktop, is now also available in Design 3D Pipe&Power. More and more buildings are modeled three-dimensionally to the last load. The piping of these components from the areas of potable water, waste water, gas, ventilation, etc. can be accelerated with the new function.
Automatic connection of 3D air ducts
The "automatic connection" command in the liNear Design 3D Ventilation module has been considerably extended and now works analogously to the Autorouting known from the Design 3D Pipe&Power module. This allows the ventilation engineer to evaluate different routing options of his air duct construction and to choose the optimum connection option with only one mouse click. This is then automatically generated by the program, including all necessary form and connection parts.
Create a scheme in Revit ...
… no problem! Many users have long been waiting for the functionality within Revit to create a 2D drawing scheme. liNear now presents the solution: With the liNear scheme generator, which is known from the AutoCAD environment, it is now possible to create schemes in Revit. Of course, all components are real Revit-Families with standardized symbols!
