liNear and Autodesk:
On a joint
mission for 30 years
The aim is and remains the provision of the best possible tools for the digitization of the building industry.
Industry-wide establishment of BIM as the next big goal.
The close partnership between liNear and Autodesk has existed since 1989. Always independent, but nevertheless closely connected, both companies have been developing trend-setting solutions for decades. With the current software versions, both companies have brought BIM-compliant tools to market maturity, thus laying the foundation for future design within the industry. Besides the integration of the solutions The two companies are also treading common paths in the area of communication.
Grown partnership - grown solutions
The range of services offered by liNear and Autodesk has grown immensely over the past 30 years. It all started at liNear with the provision of user adaptations for AutoCAD. The next step was design aids in the form of symbol libraries and drawing commands. This was followed by the pipe network, air duct and load calculations and finally the detailed 3D design. At the beginning exclusively for the AutoCAD platform, solutions for liNear industry partners and finally also integrated liNear solutions (liNear CADinside) were developed in 1997 with the availability of the AutoCAD OEM.
Since 2011, Revit also supports the BIM platform from Autodesk, for which complete liNear solutions for all trades are also available today. Together we can thus provide a considerable portfolio that supports the development of BIM-compliant design in a future-proof manner. This path is consistently pursued and both sides confirm their partnership year after year through good cooperation both in the field of development and communication. In 2018, for example, there was the first opportunity for the development teams to meet in person in Boston to discuss future developments. The cooperation in the area of trade fairs, specialist lectures, webinars, customer success stories, partner sites, blogs, mailings, videos, etc. was also strengthened. The aim is to provide national and international interested parties from the MEP industry with optimal information and to present the integrated solutions in detail.
Establishment of Building Information Modelling as a common mission
Highlighting the benefits of BIM-compliant design and providing the best possible tools is and remains the mission of the partnership. Together, the acceptance and implementation of integrated design in the building sector will be promoted - liNear of course with the focus on building services engineering design. Both companies have proven in the past that designers can rely on the combination of solutions from liNear and Autodesk, and they will continue to work together to establish BIM in the future in order to achieve the maximum benefit for the customer. With version 20, another big step forward was made. A constantly growing number of design offices use the liNear software for the realisation of their BIM projects. The industry is changing and all those involved in construction as well as software manufacturers have the task of meeting the new challenges and making optimum use of the many opportunities. liNear will help shape this change and act rather than react. The focus is on an optimal workflow for building services engineering design and the efficient completion of the required services.
"In the last 30 years, liNear has been able to make a considerable contribution to the digitalisation of design in the field of building services engineering. This success has been made possible not least by the globally used CAD platforms from Autodesk, which offer us not only reliable quality but also the technical programming requirements on which we base our industry-specific solutions.”
Manfred Waluga, Managing Director and Owner, liNear GmbH
"As an experienced provider, liNear has already extended the Autodesk BIM workflows for our MEP customers with many tools. The company has been a trusted Autodesk AEC Industry Partner for many years, and is an excellent example of how our extended ecosystem is collaborating to provide customised workflows based on our powerful BIM solutions.”
Jon V. Benthem, AIA, LEED AP+, Autodesk Industry Strategy
"The pleasing long-term commitment of our AEC Industry Partner liNear fills me with pride, the resulting industry workflows really meet the requirements of the MEP market. The solution
makes the integrated BIM process based on Revit even smoother and thus offers real added value especially to MEP engineers. I like liNear's successful approach of charging customer-oriented solutions with concrete advantages and thus expanding the industry-wide ecosystem."
Dr.-Ing. Krisztián Hegedűs, Autodesk Business Development
The cooperation with Autodesk is also a win-win-win situation from a marketing perspective. Customers and interested parties as well as our two companies benefit when we, as opinion leaders, jointly inform about the burning issues and present perfectly interlocking solutions. Especially in the discussion on BIM, it is essential to bundle the joint expertise and bring it to the market in order to move the topic forward.”
